The 2nd Leg of the 5th Historic Acropolis Rally was completed at late night of Friday 5th May. The 2nd day included 7 Special Stages for Sporting category, (the last three Special Stages had been carried out at night) and the crews covered 753 km from the total 1140 of the rally, passing from central and north east Peloponese, and the beautiful and historic cities of Nafplio, Nemea and Korinthos.
From the 54 crews that started from Loutraki in the morning, 50 completed the 2nd Leg. Such the 1st place as the 2nd belong to Greek hands. However, today P. Skaltsas – A. Peridis (FORD Escort RS 2000), are the leaders (having succeeded the best time in 4 SS) and they are 42 seconds in front of A. Kikizas – S. Kikizas (FORD Escort RS 2000). At the 3rd place stand the Norwegian V. Jensen – E. Pedersen (PORSCHE 911 Carrera RS), who have won 2 stages. At the 4th, 5th and 6th place stand Ì. Bianchini – E. Baldaccini (LANCIA Stratos), K. Apostolou – M. Kriadis (PORSCHE 911 RS) and “Stratissino” – “Silef” respectively. “Stratissino” – “Silef” made a major come back to the top, after an unlucky start.
Tomorrow morning, the 3rd and last Leg of the 5th Historic Rally starts at 10.00 from Loutraki. The 1st SS of the day (SS 16, Psatha) is scheduled for 11.10. Ritsona II, Ag. Merkourios and Ag. Konstaninos are the next stages and then the cars will arrive to Sounio, where the finish ceremony start at 16.50.

3 SKALTSAS Panayiotis – PERIDIS Andreas FORD Escort RS 2000
Everything was good. At the night stages we had a little problem with the headlights. In “Feneos” I got afraid a little and we didn’t drive as we wanted to. I believe that we are going to keep the 1st place if everything goes well.
8 ÊÉÊÉZAS Alexandros – KIKIZAS Stavros FORD Escort RS 1600
We had an exit in last SS “Feneos” because of gravel dust in a right turn and the flash from a photographer, and we lost time. At the gravel SS we did it well. Night stages were very nice but difficult. Tomorrow we hope to keep the 2nd place.
5 JENSEN Valter Chr – PEDERSEN Erik PORSCHE 911 Carrera RS
At the gravel stages we were not fast enough. These special stages were too rough for us with many rocks. That stages match to Ford Escort cars. Tomorrow, we will try to catch the 2nd place. I confirm that this rally is very tough.
6 BIANCHINI Marco – BALDACCINI Emanuele LANCIA Stratos
Today, we started good, but we faced some problems with the headlights of the car at the night SS. Tomorrow, we want to finish at the 3rd place in the overall classification and 1st in our group.
2 ÁPOSTOLOU Konstantinos – KRIADIS Mihalis PORSCHE 911 RS
We had a small exit at the last SS, and that cost us valuable time. This happened due to gravel dust that was at a part of a right cornet in the stage “Feneos”, and from the flash of a camera as well.
